In this lecture, Cardinal Kasper speaks on the topic of his newly translated book聽Mercy: The Essence of the Gospel and the Key to Christian Life聽(Paulist Press, 2014): 鈥淭he message of God鈥檚 mercy is not an unworldly or impractical theory.聽 Neither is it only a matter of sentimental sympathy.聽 It has consequences for the life of every Christian, for the pastoral practice of the Church, and for the contribution that a Christian should make to shape the social order in a more humane, just, and merciful way.鈥�
